We learned very quickly that while our sanctuary provided a temporary way station for the more than fifteen
hundred dogs that have made their way to our gate...the permanent solution to the pet overpopulation problem is affordable
spay/neuter and education that advocates responsible pet care.
We have worked tirelessly on a local level offering those two solutions with impressive results. Now we want
to take our success on the road!
While in the past Huts for Mutts has hosted numerous mobile low-cost spay/neuter clinics we are excited
about the prospect of impacting even more communities with our own spay/neuter vehicle! This is a
real opportunity to expand our influence throughout Central Texas.
Our project will bring much needed affordable or free (to low-income pet owners) spay/neuter services to Central
Texas citizens thereby lowering the kills while raising awareness and perhaps the standard of living for many rural
pets whose unwanted offspring too often fall victim to the "five cent bullet" solution.
